I am a member of the team responsible for administering and securing the Librariesí servers and data. I serve as a web technical manager and site administrator for the Libraries. I am a member of the Libraries' Web Working Group, and the Assessment Stearing Committee, and work closely with these groups to implement group decisions. I am responsible for library-wide backup of the Libraries' servers and staff/faculty workstations. I provide server and application support for the Stowell Data Project and work with the College of Liberal Arts to support their access and computing needs in relation to the project. As the developer of the joint Libraries/WSU Graduate School Electronic Dissertations and Theses site for online acceptance of ETDs, I am responsible for coordinating/facilitating electronic submissions, and work with the Grad School and Cataloging in assigning and maintaining permanent URLs for WSU electronic dissertations and theses. I administer the Libraries' Proxy server and am responsible for the authentication and authorization for access to licensed library resources. I also provide web application and programming support in various capacities.

As Systems/Operations Manager, I support and coordinate the work of the desktop support group that resides within the Library Systems Unit. The Systems/Operations Group has the responsibility of supporting 400+ computers for both public and library personnel use.

As Digital Initiatives Librarian I manage the WSU Libraries CONTENTdm installation and corresponding server software and hardware (including streaming media support). I also act as technical point person on an array of on-going digital projects and perform training and support duties as needed for the on-going digitization of library materials.

I am local project coordinator for the Western Waters Digital Library (currently being supported by an NEH grant) and serve on the GWLA Digital Collections Committee. I am currently managing the digitization of the J. Elroy McCaw Memorial Film Collection supported by an award by the Apex Foundation.

I am the technical lead for the local installation of Metalib (SearchIt!@WSU) and am backup for SFX (FindIt!@WSU). I am coordinating the efforts to move our web site into a Content Management System. I also serve on a number of committees and working groups both internal and external to the libraries.

As part of the Daily Operations team in the Systems office, Iím responsible for triaging incoming emergency phone calls and new helpdesk requests, gathering more information about problems, resolving as many as possible, and assigning jobs to other Systems personnel as appropriate. As part of this responsibility, I give users information about hardware and software procedures, about university technology policies and resources, and teach them how to use technology thatís available to them. I also assist library users who are having problems connecting to our online resources remotely, helping them resolve problems with access due to firewalls, incorrect browser settings, network IDís, and passwords. I work with the helpdesk personnel in Information Technology Services to handle library-related questions and problems they receive.

I Some of my other duties include maintaining inventories and current location of computer related equipment in the library and processing inoperative or obsolete equipment that will be sent to Surplus Stores for recycling or disposal. I also hire, help to train and maintain budgets for student employees for the Systems office
